OUR LATEST PRODUCTIONS

The Time of their Lives

A provocative feature documentary which opens up the surprising world of a small group of passionate, angry, young centenarians and the intriguing place they call home.

This feature-length documentary is the story of Hetty, Rose and Alison and the Mary Feilding Guild, the residential home where they live. With a combined age of almost 300, they are among the Guild’s oldest residents. Yet they are still powerfully engaged in their individual brands of activism – from journalism to anti-war demonstrations – whilst quietly negotiating the final years of their lives.

Director: Jocelyn Cammack 1 x 70 mins, produced for Storyville, and broadcast on 20th July 2009. Still screening around the world at international film festivals, and shortly to be shown at cinemas across Germany.

Casablanca Calling

In Morocco, women are being employed as Muslim leaders - or Morchidat - for the first time. The Morchidat have a mission: to empower women through the teachings of Islam and to challenge the attitudes which can foster extremism. In the mosques, they teach the Koran and advise the women who come to see them about everything from relationships with their husbands, to bringing up children, work, money, and neighbourhood disputes. They mentor teenagers in schools and orphanages; they support patients in hospitals; and they go into prisons to mediate between the prisoners and their estranged families. Their role is spiritual guide, leader, counsellor and friend. Casablanca Calling is an observational documentary which explores the lives of the women at the heart of this quiet social revolution. We are currently filming in Morocco, thanks to the support of the CBA and Sundance. We will be building an outreach project, with the support of FACT. Casablanca Calling was profiled at BritDoc's Good Pitch, which has helped us reach this stage of development.

Donor 150

A twenty-first century tale of secrets and lies, identity and genetic inheritance - and perhaps the family of the future.

Donor 150 is a contemporary story about identity, tracing the intersecting journeys of children in search of a father, and families facing a seismic shift in their relationships. At the centre of it all is Jeffrey, discovering at 49 the complex consequences of a casual decision made twenty years ago and facing up to the person he has become.

Donor 150 is a co-production between RedBird Productions and Met Film.
Director: Jerry Rothwell 1 x 80 mins, currently in production, seeking additional funding.

Queens of Malawi

An observational series set where our nurses come from: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Malawi.

Director: Rosa Rogers

In the last 10 years over half Malawi’s nurses have left the country to work in the UK. Our nation’s health is dependent on their skill and dedication. This is a series about where they come from: the nurses who have stayed behind whilst their friends earn ten times as much in the UK, the doctors trying to make the move to Europe, HIV specialists working in overcrowded clinics, city girls kick-starting their careers deep in the bush, and matrons dreaming of the car they could buy in England.

Queens of Malawi is a compelling new series which takes us inside everyday life in sub Saharan Africa. Set in and around Malawi’s biggest hospital, these observational films tell the personal stories of the nurses at its pulse. Focusing on a group of extraordinary characters, and filmed over time as their own narratives unfold, we enter the lives of the nurses, the people they care for, and their friends and families. Queens of Malawi takes us on a surprising journey into another world. Beyond the rich and raw everyday experiences of life, death and love, we discover a healthcare system struggling to manage despite the constant drain of its skilled staff.
